This article discusses two telecommunications companies that also provide television services: Frontier Communications Corp(NASDAQ:FTR) and Windstream Holdings, Inc.(NASDAQ:WIN)
Frontier Communications Corp(NASDAQ:FTR) has been expanding its operations in the Northeast after acquiring AT&T’s wireless business and statewide fiber network. On top of the appointment of several regional managers, the company also announced yesterday that it had appointed a variety of new officers to the company’s East Region operations.
Paul Quick was appointed to the position of Senior Vice President and General Manager of Connecticut Operations. He had previously served in the same role for the company’s Pennsylvania Operations and Frontier must be hoping that he can replicate the same success in their new territory.
Additionally, Frontier also announced that it will continue to offer DISH services with their bundled Internet and voice technology packages. Doing so helps Frontier to focus on its strengths as opposed to expanding its operations to maintain its customer base. Additionally, while Frontier does offer its own fiber optic television service, customers may simple prefer DISH.
Meanwhile, fellow telecommunications company Windstream Holdings, Inc.(NASDAQ:WIN) announced that it will be launching a next-generation television service called Kinetic. The program offers the standard features that the American consumer expects: wireless set-top boxes, a whole home DVR, multi-screen viewing, and video on-demand. Windstream’s new program will be used to boost the company’s subscriber rate.
Windstream Holdings will be hosting a conference call to discuss the company’s third quarter financial results on November 6th. On that date, we may learn more about why Windstream Holdings decided to revamp its television service. Like Frontier Communications, the company also bundles its services with the DISH Network, which essentially makes network strength the main area of competition between these companies.
