Can Lead Recycler Aqua Metals Inc. (NASDAQ: AQMS) Benefit From Paris Climate Deal?

Aqua Metals Inc. (NASDAQ: AQMS) discovered a revolutionary process used to recycle lead, the substance that you will find in almost every battery – including the one in your car. The company uses a technology called AquaRefining to recycle lead in a manner that doesn’t pollute the environment. But there is a way what AQMS is trying to do could endear it environmental conservation advocates and land it a role in pushing forward the historic Paris Climate Agreement reached in France last year.

What about the climate deal?

The Paris climate deal commits nations to act in ways that will help halt global warming, which is already having devastating effects in many places around the world. Think about rising sea levels and the threats of flooding because of rapidly melting ice and the high temperatures being recorded in many places around the globe today. One of the ways to reduce global warming is to slow down the release of greenhouse emissions into the atmosphere.

Perhaps what you might not have known is that the existing processes of recycling lead involves too much heating and releasing of large amounts of carbon into the air. For example, standard lead recycling processes require that the material from which lead is to be extracted to heat up to temperatures of 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit.

But Aqua Metals Inc (NASDAQ: AQMS)’s AquaRefining process offers an environmentally friendly way to recycle lead. For instance, heating is done at room temperature. As such, the process is promising to significantly reduce the costs and time required to recycle lead. Other than that, AQMS says its AquaRefining process can recover up to 100% of lead during the recycling process.

Installation of Aqua Metals Inc. (NASDAQ: AQMS) modules

Aqua Metals Inc. (NASDAQ: AQMS) has begun the installing its AquaRefining modules. The first of such installation was done at the company’s facility in Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC), Nevada late last month. The company targets to install 16 AquaRefining modules at the TRIC plant by the end of summer.

A role to play in climate management

As you can see, Aqua Metals Inc. (NASDAQ: AQMS)’s AquaRefining means the company can play an important role in the world’s effort to curb global warming. The Paris climate deal provides AQMS with an opportunity to expand quickly globally.
